Eco Superior PREVENTING MERCURY POLLUTION

How can I prevent mercury pollution?

There are several things which can be done to reduce the effect of mercury on the environment. Here's what you can do:
  • Know which products contain mercury
  • Avoid buying products which contain mercury where non-mercury substitutes are available
  • Complete an inventory of mercury containing products in your home.
  • Avoid putting mercury containing items in the garbage. Recycle these items or bring them to a Household Hazardous Waste Depot wherever possible.
  • Conserve energy to reduce reliance on coal burning for fuel.
(Mercury is a by-product of coal combustion.)
